About us
William Rose is an independent, family owned Butchers which moved to East Dulwich in August 2005 from Vauxhall where we had been since 1862, making it one of the oldest in London. Following the success of the shop on Lordship lane we now have a second on East Dulwich Grove.
We offer an old fashioned service that can never be equalled by the supermarkets, in terms of range, quality and price. All our meat is of premium quality and we stock many rare breeds, depending on the season such as Longhorn cattle, Gloucester Old Spot Pigs and Jacob sheep. All our staff can offer advice on your needs, your meat will be prepared to exact requirements.
In our new store we will be working with local schools, offering apprenticeships and running master classes to our customers.

Success
The queues on a Saturday show the customers confidence in the quality and value they are getting. The family business started in 1862 at the Vauxhall shop before the Congestion Charge put an end to that.
Master Classes
In the East Dulwich Grove shop Master Classes, The Carnivore Club are run for customers giving them knife skills and the confidence to tackle more complex cuisine at home. Due to it's popularity this is booked well into the future but please ask for details.
Staff
Being a master butcher has responsibilities and skills that have to be passed down. There are young apprentices, some from other shops or restaurants getting the education and experiences that aren't taught elsewhere.
Meat
Quality is key, rare breeds, reared properly and the best cuts that supermarkets don't stock. Quality with value and some good advice is what we are about.
Second Shop
Moving from Vauxhall was a big decision but we never imagined we would need to open a second shop so soon. 75 East Dulwich Grove has helped in many new ways, a larger sausage making facility, Master Classes, preparation area as well as shorter queues at Lordship Lane. When we had only the one shop we sometimes closed our Christmas order book in mid November!
